Hindsight Insight 3.0 Opens
On Friday, September 8th, the UNM Art Museum officially opened Hindsight Insight 3.0: Portraits, Landscapes, and Abstraction from the UNM Art Museum. The exhibition features over 60 artworks consisting of paintings, photographs, prints, and sculptures from the museum’s collection.
Nearly 250 guests joined UNMAM staff and collaborators in the celebration of the exhibition. It was so refreshing to see the museum filled with UNM students, staff, faculty and guests from across the community. Guests explored our current exhibits, danced, and chatted with museum staff throughout the opening.
The evening began with a lively mix of groove and house music that echoed throughout the main gallery all night, hosted by local Albuquerque DJ, HP Dubkraft. Later in the evening, UNMAM Director, Arif Khan, and Curator of Prints and Photographs, Mary Statzer, both gave opening remarks to our guests.
“It’s my great pleasure every single day to come to work here, with an amazing permanent collection and [to be] surrounded by such skilled, smart, generous, and thoughtful people.” Said Statzer during her remarks. Both Khan and Statzer thanked the museum’s student assistants for their ongoing involvement with the exhibition’s installation, visitor support, and collaboration with museum staff.
Statzer also thanked fellow UNMAM Curator of Collections and Study Room Initiatives, Angel Jiang, along with each of the exhibition collaborators Amanda Curreri, Kevin Mulhearn, Ray Hernandez-Duran, and Collective Constructs (made up of Marcella Ernest, Francis Reynolds, Anna Rotty, and Marina Perez.)
Upon reflection of the night, Associate Director, Devin Geraci said “Opening receptions are my favorite event to host at UNMAM. This semester’s reception brought the galleries to life with smiles, laughter, music, and even dancing! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make it such an amazing success.”
