Andrea Perez-Martinez Named Collections Manager at UNMAM

The University of New Mexico Art Museum is excited to welcome Andrea Perez-Martinez as our new Collections Manager.

Andrea Perez-Martinez has over 10 years of experience working in museums throughout the greater Los Angeles area, including The Broad Art Museum, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and most recently, the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. While working as a preparator and in collections management, Perez-Martinez developed skills in collection accessioning, cataloguing, art handling and exhibition installation.

Andrea Perez-Martinez graduated from Whittier College in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies and History. In 2018 she was selected for The Broad’s Diversity Apprenticeship Program in Art Handling and Preparation. Her knowledge of best practices in art installation and collection stewardship began in 2013 at the Whittier Historical Society and Museum.

As Collections Manager, Perez-Martinez will oversee the museum’s permanent collection, which includes over 30,000 objects, making it the largest collection of fine art in New Mexico. She will be responsible for documentation, archives, and conservation while mentoring students through UNMAM’s Museum Assistant Program.

Perez-Martinez begins her position on September 3rd.
