K-12 & Teachers

FIELD TRIPS – UNMAM’s school tours program takes an interactive approach to engaging with artwork, and encourages students to make meaningful connections with works of art on view to their own lives / perspectives. In order to foster museum visits that are engaging and meaningful for everyone, we practice inquiry-based, open interpretation, and experiential education. UNMAM focuses on interactive approaches to gallery learning and ask students to participate in and shape the learning experience.

Our approach to touring complements school curricula through the promotion of the critical thinking skills necessary to meet New Mexico State Standards and Common Core Standards.  While we can certainly set up tours via email – we encourage phone calls so that the tour can be tailored to you / your students’ needs.  Contact Traci Quinn, Curator of Education and Public Programs at 505.277.4010 or tmquinn@unm.edu to plan your visit.

Please plan your group tour / visit at least 1 hour prior to closing in order to ensure that we have enough time to wrap up our discussions.

Tours can be scheduled Tuesday – Friday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

The Museum is closed on Sundays, Mondays and major holidays
