Unidentified photographer, Microphotographs Presented to the Royal Institute of Chemistry by Henry Droop Richmond, c. 1877-1883. Bound volume with 43 pages of albumen print photographs. Transferred from the University of New Mexico Fine Arts and Design Library.

Join us on Saturday, September 14th, from 10a – 12p for our first Saturday Art Day of the Fall 2024 semester.

Inspired by our current exhibition, Hindsight Insight 5.0, this hands-on workshop invites you to view microscopic specimens with our in-gallery microscope and explore images inside Microphotographs Presented to the Royal Institute of Chemistry by Henry Droop Richmond” — a bound volume of microphotographs created between 1877-1883.

In the CFA Lobby, you’ll be able to create your own version of a microscopic image with a variety of arts and craft supplies ranging from hot glue and glitter to feathers, paints, construction paper, and more! Recreate the microscopic images you’ve seen in Hindsight Insight 5.0, draw inspiration from them, or let your imagination run wild to create something new.

Whether you’re inspired by the microscopic world or wish to create a fictional masterpiece, this session will encourage you to think and design creatively in a fun, hands-on environment.

Attendance is free, but reservations are required. Please reserve a ticket for this workshop below.
